The 2018 Geocaching Personality Series featured a four-month series called "You might be a geocacher if…", highlighting four core geocaching personality types. It took place from September - December.

ADRENALINE JUNKIE
Adrenaline Junkie (September): Focused on physical and mental challenges, long days out, and high-difficulty or high-terrain caches requiring climbing, hiking, or exploring remote areas.
In September, you might be an Adrenaline Junkie if…
It’s all about the thrill of the hunt. You crave physical and mental challenges that include long days of geocaching with “gear, (some) fear, and fun!” Whether you’re climbing, diving, or rappelling, there’s nothing easy about getting to this GZ.
To earn the Adrenaline Junkie souvenir, earn 50 points individually on your Friend League beginning Monday, September 3 at noon UTC and ending at noon UTC Monday, October 1. During this time, earn double points for difficulty and terrain!
The scoring:
- Found a geocache with less than 10 Favorite points: 5
- Found a geocache with 10+ Favorite points: 10
- Difficulty rating: x2
- Terrain rating: x2
- Attended Event: 5
- Drop Trackable: 3
For example, if you log a Difficulty 5, Terrain 5 geocache with under 10 Favorite points you will earn 5 points for logging the find, and 5×2=10 for Difficulty, and 5×2=10 for Terrain, giving you a total of 25 points on your Friend League!

CACHING CONNOISSIEUR
Caching Connoisseur (October): Celebrated creativity, ingenuity, and high favorite points, focusing on clever gadget caches and artistic hiding spots.
In October, you might be a Caching Connoisseur if…
There are no LPC (lamp-post caches), guardrails, or PnG’s (Park and Grabs) for you! You’re all about creativity, the higher the Favorite points the better, and like a fine wine these quality caches have stood the test of time.
To earn the Caching Connoisseur souvenir, earn 60 points individually on your Friend League beginning Monday, October 1 at noon UTC and ending at noon UTC Monday, October 29. During this time, earn higher points for finding geocaches with 10 or more Favorite points! A true connoisseur could achieve this score by finding four great caches. How many will it take you?
The scoring:
- Found a geocache with less than 10 Favorite points: 5
- Found a geocache with 10+ Favorite points: 15
- Attended Event: 5
- Drop Trackable: 1
For example, if you log a geocache with over 10 Favorite points you will earn 15 points for logging the find, giving you a total of 15 points on your Friend League! There are no extra points for Difficulty/Terrain ratings this month.

SOCIAL BUTTERFLY
Social Butterfly (November): Highlighted community engagement, attending events, and meeting up with fellow members of the geocaching community.
In November, you might be a Social Butterfly if…
You walk the walk and talk the talk—as in you like to go to events! You are fully immersed in the geocaching community and Event Caches are totally your thing. You love meeting all of your fellow geocachers and have a knack for helping newbies fall in love with the game!
To earn the Social Butterfly souvenir, earn 70 points individually on your Friend League starting October 29 at noon UTC through December 3 at noon UTC. This month earn higher points for attending Event Caches!
The scoring:
- Log a Found it on any geocache: 5
- Log a Found it on a geocache with 10 or more Favorite points: 10
- Attend any event: 15
- Drop off trackable: 1
Earn 15 points for attending any regular Event Cache, GIFF Event, CITO Event, Mega or Giga-Event! There are no extra points for Difficulty/Terrain ratings this month.

TRACKABLE LOVER
Trackable Lover (December): Centered on moving and discovering trackables, attending events with organized trackable collections, and logging tracking codes.
In December, you might be a Trackable Lover if…
You’re all about getting those digits; you can’t see a tracking code and not log it! You own several trackable t-shirts, bring your whole (very organized) collection to every event you attend, and take the extra moment to look up the trackable’s mission.
To earn the Trackable Lover souvenir, earn 80 points individually on your Friend League starting December 3 at noon UTC through December 31 at noon UTC. This month earn higher points for activating trackables!
The scoring:
- Log a Found it on any geocache: 5
- Log a Found it on a geocache with 10 or more Favorite points: 7
- Attend any event: 5
- Activate trackable: 10
- Drop off trackable you do not own: 5
Earn 10 points for activating any trackable! Plus, earn 5 points for dropping any trackable you do not own in a geocache. Please note, this is an update to the current scoring where you could earn points for dropping any trackable. With the updated scoring, you will only earn points on the Friend League for dropping trackables you do not own.
