The Wizarding World Geocache Series

The Wizarding World Geocache Series

"Upon the signature of the International Statute of Secrecy in 1689, wizards went into hiding for good. It was natural, perhaps, that they formed their own small communities within a community."

— The secrecy surrounding the wizarding world

The Wizarding World, also referred to as the magical community, is the society in which wizards and witches live and interact, separate from non-wizarding society. The two communities are kept separate through the use of charms, spells, and secrecy. Wizards and witches are forbidden to reveal anything about magic to Muggle society due to the International Statute of Wizarding Secrecy, but that does not mean that the two worlds live entirely apart.

My wife and I have just had published a fun new series of geocaches that are themed around one of our most favorite book series, Harry Potter

What to Expect on the Trail
While Muggles might see just a standard hike, geocachers know this is a true test of grit. Here is what you need to know before you head out:
  • Distance: A continuous 8.25-mile power trail.
  • Duration: Easily accomplishable in a single day if you pack enough snacks and water.
  • Terrain: This is not an easy stroll. You will traverse a rugged mix of dirt trails, winding paths, and demanding elevation changes. High-traction footwear is highly recommended!
  • Geo-Companions: While this may seem like a great opportunity to get your faithful dog out on a hike, I would discourage it due to the abundance of cacti that grow along the trails. Horses, however, are welcome on all of the trails, as are mountain bikes.

If you're ready to claim your smilies and complete the ultimate wizarding trek head over to the Bookmark List to find our series, log your finds, and let us know in the comments which Harry Potter reference was your favorite!
